Resolutions (.twennytwelve.)

Resolutions (.twennytwelve.)

We make resolutions every year, or at least… most of us do. I now find what we are lacking as a society is the understanding that telling yourself you’ll quit smoking or loose 10 pounds really wont better the world in any way. It is our attitudes and the ways we relate to people… to friends, family, loved ones…. that is what will better the world around us.

Looking at what I dedicated myself to last year, how well I did, and the person I have become - I feel it only right to create new resolutions. This does not mean I will give up working on my resolutions from last year - On the contrary, every resolution I make is an ongoing adventure to better myself.

DEFINTION OF THE WORD RESOLUTION:
1. a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.
3. the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc.
4. the mental state or quality of being resolved or resolute; firmness of purpose.

Combining all of those, I suppose the world could be summed up as; Resolution - to knowingly and in a firmness of mind and purpose - make a determined decision including a well defined outcome aswell as a detailed course of action. I figure, if Im going to ACCTUALLY make a resolution, I should damn well know EXACTLY what that word means, and how to do it. I only recently have learnt to make resolutions that by the end of the subsequent year, I still agree’d with… this year, Id like to work even more diligently on honouring and remembering my resolutions. Im making a resolution, to improve my resolutions - so to speak. So, here they are. .

Resolution One:
I Tabitha - knowingly and in a firmness of mind and purpose - am determined to take the first step in achieving my dreams - by which I mean, publishing a novel. To do this, I must finish one of the numerous novels I have started in the depths of my computers writing folder.  I will do this with motivation and determination, and will do it with the knowledge that my dreams are as easy to accomplish as putting a pen to paper, and others are not so lucky.

Resolution Two:
I Tabitha - knowingly and in a firmness of mind and purpose - am determined to be a positive role model to those in my life that may look up to me by doing everything in my power to pass on my accumulated wisdom whenever the oppertunity presents itself as well as conducting myself and my life in a positive, productive manner. I will do this with courage and power, and will do it with the knowledge that we are all much more influential than we could ever dream possible.

Resolution Three:
I Tabitha - knowingly and in a firmness of mind and purpose - will continue to educate myself on a daily basis. This may mean seeking to further my education at an institution, attending open lectures, frequenting the library, engaging in intellectual debate with peers and keeping up to date with world news and politics.  I will do this with drive and excitement, and will do it with the knowledge that the older I get, the less I may know - but the more I have to opportunity to learn.

So there it is folks, my resolutions. Done to the best of my ability, showing every part of me that needs to be, and done with love and hope that you tumblr folks will take your resolutions as seriously as I have. To everyone we have lost this year, I miss you - you’re in our hearts and minds.

Please, feel free to send me asks or reblog this and post your own resolutions - I would love to see people making an active effort towards positive change in their own lives. Or, if you don’t want to make resolutions - tell me why! This is an excellent time of year for inspired conversation, lets make the best of it.

I hope 2012 contains everything you ever wanted and then some.
